Fade and taper haircuts
A fade blends the hair shorter as it goes down the sides and back, with no hard line left behind. Where that blend starts is what separates a low taper from a mid or high fade. A skin fade takes it all the way down.
Which one to ask for
A low taper is the quietest of the three and keeps the line close to the ear. Mid and high fades move it up, so the contrast reads from further away.
A buzz cut skips the blend altogether. One length over the whole head, and easy to keep up.
